It took tracking down Ariel and getting his head clear before he could think about it again, and sort out that there might have been more to it than that. Hacking a certain conversation seemed to confirm that. But Masaomi wasn't at the apartment when he got back - neither was that weird egg, for that matter - and he hadn't bothered to take his journal with him.
And then Law dropped off his roommate drunk hours later, and the guilt compounded.
