Appointments Post ( I )

This post here is for personal conversations which should happen but one or both of us doesn't want to put up a new post/log and thus we will just thread it out here. This can be used to thread with Masaomi anytime and anywhere. This can either be in person (with action), or via the journal's call feature (voice and/or written).

See, I could believe that last part.

I'd need a sniper rifle.

Save that for another day. [He shakes his head. But the motion is followed by a pause that's a little too long to be a proper segue and he decides to just get on with it.]

...there's something I need to bug you about.

Huh... huh.

[Okay, lay it on him. He tilts his head, but]

That stuff you were saying about someone starting up Dollars. [He folds his arms over his chest, watchful of Masaomi's reaction to what he has to say next.] Mikado is a suspect to you, isn't he?

[He freezes. His whole body goes rigid. And his look flattens]

...ah. Why do you say that?

[It's a dangerous accusation, especially as Shikamaru knows what Mikado is to Masaomi. It'd be like telling Naruto they might have to kill Sasuke.

But then again, he's done that already. His eyes narrow, and he doesn't look away.]

Little things I've noticed, here and there. [Not all of which he's going to mention -- "Friends do hurt you!" -- he doesn't need to to dig his point home.]

You're acting weirder about what happened than you should be. Couldn't help but notice that Mikado wasn't invited to that meeting like me and Gold, too.

[ . . . . ]

Ah, he wasn't, was he? [there's a beat here. A suspicion, huh? Nah. He sighs]

[And Shikamaru doesn't say anything else to that. What he pointed out was enough - that last bit is suspicious enough on its own.

So he just waits then. But he thinks he already has his answer.]

[A pause...]

This isn't a conversation to exclude Gold from.

...that's fair enough. [Because yeah, it's not going to be just a simple confirmation of that. Gold will need to know to.]

Tonight would be a good time to track him down for a chat.

[It's a strong suggestion, but if were anymore than that, he'd be arranging the meeting himself. This thing with the Dollars is Masaomi's business, so he defers to him on it.]

Shikamaru~ [He sighs. He's trying to release his tension, but it's not working. He's actually trembling, but...]

No. [Sharply. He looks to the side and then nods to himself] Tomorrow night. This is vital, but it's not time-sensitive. It can wait a day, and tomorrow afternoon's some big birthday party thing. I'm going, Gold's probably going because Shuri-kun's involved. We'll allow him that.

[Just so long as it's sooner than later, is Shikamaru's concern with it. Now that Mikado knows where they live... He's not expecting an assault or anything, but it bugs him, having this blank on how he's expected to work with the situation.

But another night is no drastic amount of time to wait. If anything, he can agree that what they have to discuss will go over better when Masaomi isn't so wired from what happened this morning. The physical tells are enough that he's actually concerned some, wondering what exactly is running through his head. As a friend, he wants to help with that. As a comrade...]

[His eyes remain searching for a little while longer, as if trying to figure it out, but he nods. His posture loosens suddenly, shoulders turned to go.]

You're the boss.

[...]

Ah, I am.

[There is some hesitation in his voice as he confirms that Only slight, though - mostly, he sounds confident]

[After shooting one more look at Masaomi to show he's understood, Shikamaru turns and heads back over to his room without a word. Later, after Masaomi has had some more time to think, he'll see if he can drag the guy out to do something. A game, or whatever stupid movie they can find at the rec center, maybe.

But that's not for now. He's not sure how much of that confidence is for real or for show. Either/or - it's his job. Shikamaru can't help him with that. There's some things he needs to come to terms with on his own.]
