[Masaomi, back from his mission steps up out of the tunnels... tired. He's quite tired, as is Linda (who is resting her pokeball which is clipped onto his vest. He has on the ninja flak vest he borrow from Shikamaru forever ago and also looks a bit beat up. Some of his sleeves are torn as are his pants. He has some cuts, some bruises, and some burns, not all of them healed but some of them healing. He also has one of his collapseable batons in his hand. Aside from this, his muscle build up is more obvious but-

But something different about the image - despite all that and the rain and the injuries, he's laughing once he looks up at the sky. Stronger. Stronger. He already feels it. Well, no time like the present, despite his tired he's going out to accomplish a few things. First is actually to go pick up something to drink from the grocery and pick something up from the item shop (feel free to run into him at either of those) and head over to Mikado's apartment. It's an important day, after all, and he did not want to blow him off for it. Besides, if he heads there now, he might make it as the guy is coming back to school and he might run into him before then.

After that, well, he'll spend his day with Mikado until that night (though anyone can run into him before then). This'll last until about 8PM, when he's going to be going to hang out just inside the battle dome for a reason which might obvious to a lot of people. (and no, he still has not changed his clothes, even if he might have cleaned up the more obvious injuries). And after whatever comes of that, he's going to go back to his apartment to meet up with his roommate and anyone he didn't run into through the rest of the day before finally popping open the journal.]

[Voice]

Masaomi Kida has returned!! I hope you all didn't miss me too dearly!! [Okay so he's tried and running on caffeine by now, but he's still grinning ear to ear] Some rain out there today, and man is it wet- [he resists saying "ladies I hope you didn't get too wet if you saw me today" but it's hard. He laughs to himself at that joke despite not saying] You can tell the sky's telling us something though, riiight? We're approaching spring, a time of love and lust and all between! So sound off!! Whooooo's got a special someone? Who's got a crush? You can trust me, I'm a Love Machine.

[Laughing at this, once more]

So ladies... and gentlemen. Don't speak up all at once.

Mmmhm~ Actually, I've got a few moves to show off once we're there. [And he waves, stating to walk ahead. He leaves Linda on her shoulder. Notably, despite the magnetism dying down, Linda is no longer attracting hair for static cling. she's mastered her output when she isn't doing anything else] Both her and me - but I guess a gentleman doesn't show off all his talents at once.

And yet, look who's walking in such a hurry.

[Pause, look at her, and he walks five steps backwards moonwalk like. Smirking]

[Katara turns her head to look at Linda.]

I think he's trying to tell me that he's not a gentleman.

[Linda huffs. Hey, hey he... well okay he isn't]

I'm just in no hurry.

Right. [There's light amusement and affection in her gaze when she looks at him, walking now beside her.] Of course not.

Not unless you are Ka~ta~ra~ After all, you can think of me as your knight right now.

[And then Katara rolled her eyes.] I don't even know what that is, but if it is what I think it is, then I'd rather just think of you as a friend.

[No servants of any sort, please. 8|]

Hooooh, you know ninja and deer and bears, but not knights? Maybe not even samurai.

[He looks sidelong at her, amused. This all is said in an airy tone]

No, I knew a samurai once. His name was Jack.

[This is said disbelievingly]

[She nods.]

He was an amazing swordsman. He wore his hair in a topknot, had these weird sandals, and had very bad fortune with tents.

...And his name was Jack.

That's what he said. [Shrug.]

A samurai named Jack... aaaah, that's just wrong.

Why is that wrong? His name isn't any stranger than half of the other names here.

[...Of course, she wouldn't get it. Actually, he wonders if she even has a frame of reference Okay, he looks to Linda, and then to her face]

Okay, so, let's see the name "Sokka" - it would be unusual to hear someone from the Fire Nation having that name, right?

[Katara smiles a little wryly at that, thinking of Sokka's time with Master Piandao.]

Okay, so... picture it like this - samurai are a special type of warrior from my nation, Japan. Like old school, our warrior-elite used to be called those. You've heard some Japanese names right, Mikado? Shikamaru, Masaomi, Anri, Saki... Aoba. [And he lists this off on his fingers]

Jack is a western name. From over in Europe. So telling me there is a samurai named Jack is like telling you there's a Fire Nation warrior named Sokka.

Oh. [She turns that over in her mind before nodding.] Yeah, that would be weird. I see what you mean.

See, totally weird. Now if we had Hideyoshi or Nobunaga here, I'd want to shake their hands. Oh, or Date Masamune!

...I'm guessing those are famous samurai?

Preeetty much. All from the Sengoku era- back when Japan was split up into dozens of warring states. Nobunaga and Hideyoshi unified the nation. I'm not a fan of history I can't see with my own eyes, but it's hard not to like the stories you hear about them.

I'll say! There's a not of drama and romance involved. Intrigue! I'm no otaku or anything, but between that, the Romance of Three Kingdoms, Dazai's works, ...Though I guess those don't relate as heavily. [eh laughs] Maaah, it's hard not to appreciate Eastern literature.
