So, who here's heard of dinosaurs?

[ He's been reading Michael Crichton lately, sue him. Also, he genuinely wonders how many not-Earth people have, given a lot of animals do seem similar between a lot of worlds, but... dinosaurs though. ]

[ Action ]

[ Well, there are normal staples of Masaomi's day: you can see him working the Convenience Store if you want, you can see him shopping for clothes, you can see him in the library (perhaps picking up some books in the aforementioned dinosaurs), or training (in a tank top and shorts) at the Battle Dome. At the end of the day you might also see him going to HQ for the end of the night.

But... something else is at the Dome today fore someone who wants special stuff. Namely, once he's tired and sweaty and Linda has worked herself hard, Masaomi is still using his room, but he's using it to project images of all sorts of dinosaurs based on a picture book that he picked up at the library. To see them in motion, because why wouldn't you try to do something like that? ]

[ Working on A Thing sounds like reason enough, though the last part the guy says makes the side of Red's mouth quirk. What could it be they're doing exactly...? ]

Well... okay. [ The quirk at Red's mouth disappears -- well whatever! Pikachu finishes a nut just as he gets invited for a drink (yeah he was totally listening it). Oh, a drink? Yeah sure!! ]

Raichu's look really cool though! Their ears turn all curly, and their feet are way bigger too!

I've never seen one in person, just seem the info in a Pokédex before. But they really do look cool.

[ Sweet. Okay, Pikachu, let's go use the smoothie machine he calls dibs on the orange ]

[ What's a smoothie orange even yo??? ]

Oh yeah, did you see one of the other trainer's pokédexes? [ He's remembering back to when he met Ikki. ] The one I saw was newer than mine! It had better pictures and all this other stuff recorded in it. [ He makes some hand gestures as he talks, but then stops here. ] But mine's the first ever back where I'm from, and theirs had hundreds of pokémon recorded down.

My... own, actually. Gold and Silver collected some for all the new trainers at the time, using mission points. I'm not sure where all four of them are now.

[ woooah, it's like.... weird looking! ]

Really? [ Huh. ] Lots of trainers would be jealous of you guys. Or, the really nerdy kinds... but I guess they might be more popular in the future.

-- oh, did you ever meet the man who made it? I heard he was here before! Professor Oak -- I know him and his grandson. He's a really amazing professor!

Not really! I mean, I knew he was here and I think I saw him around, but I had more contact with the prodigal grandson. [ But he knew him, huh? So he really does have parallels to that Red he knows more about. He shrugs a little at this ] But maaan, they should be. The pokédex is really an amazing feat of engineering - I'm in awe of it's construction.

[ But it's good.

And sweet. She normally digs spicy but she likes citrus ]

[ well sure he'll try it! he'll try anything once (except touching spiky things that's dumb)

Also, feel free to note that total unimpressed face right there at 'prodigal grandson'. It came included with a small eyeroll. ]

What? Like how it's put together? [ Is this guy a total nerdy type... ]

[ Cool, take a sip - you need to use a straw tho. Here we go.

As for Masaomi... yes he is. But not in this respect ] More like the functionality. The one I have can tell what attacks a Pokémon's got, information on how they're doing in a battle... It's pretty amazing it can analyze like that. In a world where you are fighting pokémon more, it's probably like having a cheat sheet.

[ Wow -- a pokédex can do all that? Again Red makes a face, mouth pulling to the side and his brow lowering together. ]

My pokédex doesn't do any of that. How does it tell all those things? [ It makes Red fold his arms. ] It's only supposed to catalogue down all the pokémon - that's what Professor Oak originally made it for.

[ but maybe he changed his mind the more it got out in the world...?? ]

Maybe he decided that it should get some data on individuals. Who knows? [ He shrugs ] Like I said, I didn't really know the man.

But how do you do it? Do you just scan the pokémon and all that stuff shows up on the screen?

Yeah, point it in the direction and hold on it a bit. You can get a lot more about your own than any other ones, though. [ Linda, that is ] I've never questioned how it worked that hard.

It sounds like it'd be really complicated to hear explained... [ Eh. ]

But it's probably useful if you're not big into battling but you travel a lot. You could figure out how to deal with any violent pokémon easier. [ --ah ] Oh yeah, which version of the professor's grandson did you know anyway? The Green guy?

Ah, yeah, Green-san. [ Version... ] So you know another one? Or heard tell of one?

Uhuh. They look the same, kinda, but the one I know's called Blue. [ hmm. ] So I guess the one's that's been here is the guy Silver and Gold and -- well, everyone from their world knows.

[ Maybe Blue had been there once, but it was doubtful he'd find out from this guy. Oh well. ]

Huh... Yeah, I've only ever known Green-san to be related to that professor guy. If anything, Silver's sister's name is Blue, going from there world.

Silver's got a sister? [ Woah, colour him surprised! ] I never knew that.... [ Huh. ] But it's not unusual - having a different name in a different world I mean. There's another trainer here that knows Professor Oak in his world, and his grandson's called... Gar? Gary?

Oh, really? Never knew that. [ He hums a little, and shrugs. He looks around again, and realizes - oh, he didn't give Red enough food yet, did he? HE goes off to look for more here, putting his hands in his pockets, walking away from the counter...

And.

Linda now has the orange icee here, and they can share it, two straws. ... Not like she wants to, it's just practice ] Honestly, I've never really run into parallel worlds like that for me personally. ... Or well, I guess there's dozens of "Earths," but I've never run into, say, some version of Anri-chan known for his package than for her chest.

[ Not enough for the bag he's gotten! Red will follow him, not actually minding about going off and getting stuff for himself, but if this guy is going to likely give him things...!

Pikachu touches on the side of the drink, feeling the cold and remembering a drink like this before. Hey Lin, you ever drink one of these really fast? ]

For his package instead of his chest? Huh? [ wait ] Her?

Oh. I meant the idea that someone would be a different gender in another world.

[ It's a common enough idea here...

But ... she has, but she's going to tell him no. He should try it. ]

[ Oh, nooo. Let him push the drink towards her. She should try it! ]

Really? [ ... packages and chests...?? The boy is really trying to figure out how this connects, but... ]

Is it normal here anyway? Different versions of people? [ Nope, he's giving up. Moving on. ] I tried talking about it with someone else, but they said they've never seen it happen with them either. But there's me... and then there's another guy here called Red too from the same town, and I guess we might look the same?

[ Maybe. ]

[ Wow she likes this drink, you should have it though, you're the one who hasn't tried it! Huff ]

That seems possible, yeah. It's not unheard of, but it's not super common either. And usually, you only see it as a result of Shifts.

[ Alright, let's drink it at the same time! That's the only way to do this!

Red eyes over the shelves they're standing in front of, picking up one of the boxes of cereal. He looks back up at Masaomi after he's finished speaking. ] Shifts make different versions of yourself show up?

[ OKAY FINE. Gosh.

... She'll not do it as fast, but won't tell him. He'll totally get brain freeze. Hahaha ]

No, more like... a Shift can make you into a different version of yourself. [ And he taps the side of his head ] I've still got the memories of the Prince of Omashu.

[ There's something called milkshakes and Pikachu's been in this love-hate relationship before, alright. He knows this game (because he tried to trick Lin into it...). WATCHING YOU OVER THIS DRINK, LIN LIN.
