So, who here's heard of dinosaurs?

[ He's been reading Michael Crichton lately, sue him. Also, he genuinely wonders how many not-Earth people have, given a lot of animals do seem similar between a lot of worlds, but... dinosaurs though. ]

[ Well, there are normal staples of Masaomi's day: you can see him working the Convenience Store if you want, you can see him shopping for clothes, you can see him in the library (perhaps picking up some books in the aforementioned dinosaurs), or training (in a tank top and shorts) at the Battle Dome. At the end of the day you might also see him going to HQ for the end of the night.

But... something else is at the Dome today fore someone who wants special stuff. Namely, once he's tired and sweaty and Linda has worked herself hard, Masaomi is still using his room, but he's using it to project images of all sorts of dinosaurs based on a picture book that he picked up at the library. To see them in motion, because why wouldn't you try to do something like that? ]

Red eyes over the shelves they're standing in front of, picking up one of the boxes of cereal. He looks back up at Masaomi after he's finished speaking. ] Shifts make different versions of yourself show up?

[ OKAY FINE. Gosh.

... She'll not do it as fast, but won't tell him. He'll totally get brain freeze. Hahaha ]

No, more like... a Shift can make you into a different version of yourself. [ And he taps the side of his head ] I've still got the memories of the Prince of Omashu.

[ There's something called milkshakes and Pikachu's been in this love-hate relationship before, alright. He knows this game (because he tried to trick Lin into it...). WATCHING YOU OVER THIS DRINK, LIN LIN.

Is that... supposed to be a different you? A real different you? [ Uhh.. ]

Is there a reason you think those people might not be real? [ He says this with some gravitas, putting his hands in his pockets before arching his shoulders a lot ] In a world where there's a Green-san and a Blue-san bore of the same people or where I can know of an Earth where war ravaged the planet right when I know it's peaceful, why would any one person, even one brought in for a Shift here, be any less real than you or I?

[ ... Wow bro. Wow. How are you not getting the freeze yet ]

[ HEHEHEHEHEH. Shoort caaareful siips. ]

Well, 'cause Shifts can mess with your head, right? [ He tips his head, adjusting the bag he's been holding to shuffle up the food that's in there. ] That's why I was asking. I don't know what it's like to become some different guy.

[ Just have similar different guys around. ]

They can, yeah. But when you are someone else... well, you know. I'd call it dishonest to say those fellows lived and died only as a mental defect.

[ Oh here's a good one. No one likes these squid ink flavored popcorn things. Have that ]

[ Oh, thanks. He'll drop those into the bag. ]

So your Prince guy had a whole life and world he was from?

Mmmhm. I have most of his memories... [ Not really, but he has the highlight. What he thought about, what he talked about while he was here. And he can connect the dots with other stuff ] Raised by an old crazy king, that guy.

So, when he was in you... [ that sounds weird to say ] Did you know?

And when you return to yourself, you have memories of that other life. Is it more sad to think they only lived that week, or that somewhere, in some other world, they existed?

Huh? [ He doesn't get what that gesture means, but. ] I'm not trying to say they're fake. [ ... ] Unless you're asking that because you want to know what I think.

Well, I do and I don't. [ He says this a little sheepishly and laughs some, tossing the guy some pretzels which are no doubt stale ] I'm sort of curious, but then, have you experienced that?

[ Oh hey, these feel bulky. Wanna throw another this way (why you gotta throw everything). ]

Me becoming someone else? No... I just have guys from the same town with my name walking around.

Oh wow, the same team, too? That's just uncanny.

Not with them? We've got a pikachu and a venusaur with us, but he's got a poliwrath.

Oh, well, Pikachu aren't that uncommon, are they?

Yeah? They're not common just because there's four here. [ A half-hearted shrug. ] Teams don't really matter anyway. Ash got his pikachu when he started and Red had poliwrath since he was young. I only got Venusaur this year and she's who I started with.

Four and I've known at least one or two others aside from them. You can't blame me for thinking they're a common sort.

Maybe they're popular somewhere else. [ eh. ] I don't know. But me and Ash and the other Red are all from the same town so our pikachus could all be from the same forest.

Oh, that could be it. One of those correlation fallacies.

[ SPEAKING OF THOSE. why aren't you brain freeze Pikachu you putz. She has been being cautious this whole time but now she's glaring ]

[ Fallacies? ] Yeah, sure; one of those.

[ He's going to grab a packet each of these crisps lined up here too, since they're here. ] So, what do you think? About your prince. That's different than me and the other trainers. [ A glance to Masaomi. ] You're not a prince too, right?

[ Because he can see her going cautious too don't think he's dumb!! Can you smirk with a straw in your mouth because Pikachu sure is doing it!! ]
