So, who here's heard of dinosaurs?

[ He's been reading Michael Crichton lately, sue him. Also, he genuinely wonders how many not-Earth people have, given a lot of animals do seem similar between a lot of worlds, but... dinosaurs though. ]

[ Action ]

[ Well, there are normal staples of Masaomi's day: you can see him working the Convenience Store if you want, you can see him shopping for clothes, you can see him in the library (perhaps picking up some books in the aforementioned dinosaurs), or training (in a tank top and shorts) at the Battle Dome. At the end of the day you might also see him going to HQ for the end of the night.

But... something else is at the Dome today fore someone who wants special stuff. Namely, once he's tired and sweaty and Linda has worked herself hard, Masaomi is still using his room, but he's using it to project images of all sorts of dinosaurs based on a picture book that he picked up at the library. To see them in motion, because why wouldn't you try to do something like that? ]

[ Team... Rocket? Wasn't that the deal with Silver's dad...

Well, that's a secret, but ] Yeah, wouldn't want the super-criminals to have the lords of the sky and ocean under their control. You'd have nowhere to run.

[Ahahaha] Yes, I suppose that may have been the case. Plus, there's no telling what kind of ramifications their actions may have had on both the past and present, had their plans succeeded on one of those occasions. When my friends and I met Tirtouga, Team Rocket also wanted to try using it in order to open a passage that led directly into the ancient past, so that they could capture all of the Pokemon that used to be there too.

[...Let's just say the Team Rocket of his world have some bizarre schemes sometimes, even when it doesn't involve a legendary Pokemon.]

[ What. ]

... How does that even work?

[Yeah.] I can't say I understand their peculiar taste in ideas and planning, but yes, they really did try to do something like that.

How to explain...see, there's a place in Unova called "Twist Mountain", which is made up of a series of many tunnels and caves. It's very easy for someone to get lost when traveling through there, but usually there are miners working nearby that can be of assistance when people are lost.

My friends and I met one of them, who had just found the fossil of Tirtouga when excavating there. He had a theory that time behaves strangely there at the mountain, speaking of a "gateway" in time that he found when he was younger, where he was able to meet these Pokemon in person. Of course, that seemed too unbelievable to be true, but apparently Team Rocket believed this story, so they stole the fossil he found and planned to use the technology they had to revive Tirtouga, believing that it's energy was needed in order to find and stabilize this time gate that led into the past.

I'm... going to regret this. But in your professional opinion, is there any credibility to that?

[ That does seem like it couldn't possibly be true, but then the Pokémon world (worlds?) always have defied his expectations in terms of the fantastic. ]

Hm...as a Science Connoisseur, at first I might have said that it was far too unbelievable for it to be true...even with how fantastical some things may be in our world. [He's a least semi-aware that stuff in his world is pretty out there in comparison to some other people's worlds here.]

...But, and I hate to say it, it turns out that Team Rocket was right. This "time gate" we were told about really did exist, so we had to fight with them to try to keep them from succeeding with this plan of theirs once this rift suddenly appeared.

Oh my -- you're serious? You're totally serious?!

[ And he bursts out laughing here. Good lord ]

...Is it really that amusing?

['Cause uh, it wasn't that funny, at least not during that particular incident anyway. ~~It was serious enough to warrant two episodes to deal with it!~~]

I'm-- sorry-- but! I know that should be spooky- [ Pfftahahha oh my god ] But who would think of - and it was real?! [ HAhahaa ]

Well...I suppose it is kind of funny, looking back on it... [He didn't even get to the part about describing the fighting mostly involved dealing with the comic relief trio of TR.] Plus, everything worked out in the end--Tirtouga had evolved into Carracosta, and it was able to get some of it's friends to cross over briefly into our time so that they could drive Team Rocket away, which certainly made this taste a little more satisfying.

[Because...again, really, whose bright idea was it to get Pokemon from dinosaur times to be brought to the future, did Team Rocket really think that was going to work out...]

So he's the prophet of the sea gods, who pulled them into the future-past? That's deep.

[Pffft] I suppose that's one way to look at it...either way, after we met them, those Pokemon went back to their own time and Team Rocket had been successfully defeated and chased away from the mountain. So, everything since then has had a normal flavor to it, at least from what I can recall.

[Or rather, "from Cilan's current canon point", anyway. He hasn't been updated on TR's next plan involving Meloetta and all that stuff that happened, or the stuff with Team Plasma, so...yeah, as far as he knows, things are alright at the moment.]

[ He nods, chuckling a bit more as he thinks about it. But soon enough, he clams down and asks, quite rationally: ] So that would make you and yours right heroes, wouldn't it? You fended off some big time criminal organization's plan, even if it was whacky.

Heroes? [...] I don't think I've ever thought of it that way before, but yeah, I guess that would make us like heroes, wouldn't it? [ahahaha]

...Oh, but I think those Pokemon we met were perhaps the true heroes of this particular encounter with Team Rocket, since they were the ones that were able to give the extra push needed in order to drive them away. Without them, I'm not sure how things would have gone otherwise.

Okay, okay. Then I'll have to make a badge for them - the heroes of the future-past.

Oh, how nice. [Hmm] I'm sure you would have liked them, if you had been there to meet them--those Pokemon truly had a magnificent taste to them, and it was amazing to get to see these ancient Pokemon in person.

[Dumb as the plot was, it might have been a little worth just to see these Pokemon.]

Yeah, I bet. It'd be nothing short of miraculous for me to see dinosaurs under the circumstances that exist in my world, and the same's got to be true of your own... or well, I'd say that, but you did see them. Either way, I guess you "owe" Team Rocket that much.

[And here, he gives a dramatic sigh] I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that--the idea of "owing" Team Rocket anything would be enough to leave a bad taste in one's mouth just from thinking about it...

Haha... yeah, I guess it's not in the interests of anyone to be indebted to criminals.

I should hope not, especially in regards to criminals like Team Rocket. Even if their bizarre schemes don't always work out, they are still thieves who try to do bad things, so being indebted to people like them would certainly not be in good taste.

[Comic relief trio is sort of tolerable once in a blue moon, but they are still the bad guys at the end of the day.]

Oh, so that's not a unique incident?! The gangsters of your world are known for outlandish plans?

More or less. [A slight pause.] Though...I suppose the incident I described before is probably the strangest one that I can recall having happened before I arrived here, but I would be lying if I said that they haven't tried other fairly elaborate ways to steal Pokemon before then. To compare, the most straight-forward plan that I can recall them ever having was...hm... [He actually has to stop and think about this for a second.] ...Perhaps the time when they tried to steal the other ancient Pokemon we met before, Archeops? After it evolved from an Archen, they showed up and simply tried capturing it with an electric net, but it broke free and attacked them, causing them to quickly retreat.

[That said, though...] But, for a group with terrible taste in ideas and actions, they were certainly rather dedicated to doing whatever they could to steal more Pokemon whenever there was an opportunity to do so: in fact, I don't think I even have enough fingers to count how many times my friends and I have had to deal with certain members of them being constantly up to no good. [Even with being comic relief, those guys definitely didn't know when to quit, that's for sure...]

Well, it does tend to be the nature of gangsters to not give up just because they had some setbacks... but then, the ones in my world might've had some more elaborate and less silly plans. It's hard to imagine the Awakusu operating like that for example...

[ But then, maybe Team Rocket and the Awakusu aren't a one to one analogy, despite what he heard from Silver. But at the same time... oh, wait a minute: ]

So wait, are these the same agents, you're running into over and over?

...Yes, as a matter of fact, it always did seem to be the same people each time. I think I might have even mentioned them before a long time ago, about three specific members of the group that we've run into before several times: Jessie, James, and Meowth.

[At least, he thinks he recalls probably talking about Rockets before at some point. ~~Or his mun does now but she still hasn't found the thread that had that conversation yet.~~]

Those three are always involved somehow every single time, and based on what Ash has said about them, they were always up to something even when he was traveling around in other regions prior to arriving in Unova. In fact, he probably knows more about them than I do, actually. [He'd have to after having to deal with them stalking him and his friends for years now, right?]
