[Voice / Action]

[This morning Mikado is gone.

More pressingly, his computer and most of the things in his room are gone too. Masaomi stares at it for a long while through the hole in the wall (covered by a sheet) dividing their two rooms when he went to check on Mikado today. As it stands... well. Well. There's a few possible conclusions, and they all fly into his head: kidnapped, kidnapped by someone else? Seduced-? all of them leave a foul taste in his mouth. Thus, eventually, he flips open the journal. His tone is flat, with an unhidden hint of threat in it-]

Have any of you seen Mikado Ryuugamine?

[... But he's too antsy to focus on just that. Instead, he's going to hit up all the likely hang outs- he's going to hit up all of the friends of Mikado's he knows the house/apart numbers of. Archie Kennedy, Anne, Shuri, Selphie. For good measure, he then will go to people he wonders might be useful - the clinic to see if he can't find Law-san or someone else there and then around to look for Shikamaru, even though he doesn't know where he lives. By the end of the day, he's just going to be looking in the windows of all the houses he can, and then going to the apartment doors of everyone he can and knocking on their door... progressively feeling more and more like hitting someone or something.

SO UH. Run unto him wherever ! He's feeling insane]

[He notes the change in attitude - possibly getting somewhere now? There's a lot about Masaomi that Shikamaru just plain doesn't know about. But there's something unbalanced there - he got the gist of that from what Katara told him and how he saw Masaomi act during the draft, when lives were at stake. It's a lot to read into, but he understands that that's only scraping just beneath the surface when it comes to this sort of thing.]

Keep saying that, like it makes a difference. [His tone is bored; unmoved.]

If you don't care, just let me go.

[There's one more tug, but this is at the end of his patience. The smile - which never quite met his eyes - fades, and now he just frowns]

[Shikamaru's expression remains more or less a blank slate. He doesn't say anything to that - nothing to say to that at this point. But he doesn't let go either.]

Let go. Let go, dammit!

[His voice breaks a bit here. Some tears come into his eyes, like this did with Frey, and like with Frey he throws a punch, a strong hook with his free hand to Shikamaru's face]

[The one thing Shikamaru always did have going for him in taijutsu was his ability to dodge - quickly, at that. He moves his head and shifts his shoulders, rolling off the hook just enough so that it doesn't connect.

At the same time, he'll be turning the rest of his body so that he's standing to the side of Masaomi, instead of right in front of him. With his free hand he'll be reaching around to grab a fistful of his hoodie to yank him backwards and off balance, hard to the ground.

If it works, he'll probably release his wrist when he does so he doesn't get dragged down with him.]

[It does work, and Masaomi does start to go down. Yes, that works.

But as he falls, Masaomi repositions his feet and his elbows that almost as soon as he connects, he's reversing the momentum to get back up on his feet to go for another swing. Mind you, given what Shikamaru knows of Masaomi's acrobatics and endurance, he probably foresaw that, so-]

[He'll have nothing to punch but air, because Shikamaru is dropping down for a spinning hook kick aimed for his shins.]

[Once more, he over-balances. He wasn't expecting that, somehow, and the result is that he falls forward. He knows if he lands Shikamaru will have him though, she he tucks his wings and his arms as best he can to turn his fall in a poorly aimed front roll - it doesn't work, but.

He still lands awkwardly, his face hits the dirt and his arms skid a bit. But he does manage to get himself into a position on his knees and trying to scramble back to his feet as soon as possible]

[As Masaomi tries to get to his feet, Shikamaru will remain crouched a few feet in front of him.]

I'm not the kind of guy who'd hit you while you're down. [Not here, at least. Right now, his intentions are just to let Masaomi get the chance to blow off some steam, not pummel him into the ground.] But if you're getting up, don't try to leave.

I am going to leave, Shikamaru.

[Really, he's livid. As he gets part way to standing, he just makes an awkward lunge towards the crouched figure. If he's going to get out, he needs to beat him, right?]

[That's right. And he figured Masaomi would catch onto that.

When he makes his lunge forward, Shikamaru will send a little chakra to his feet and jump up and over him.]

Good luck with that, really.

[He stumbles a bit then, but after a bit of catching himself, he manages to turn and try to throw a blind punch behind him. He's got to keep the pressure on, right]

[Shikamaru blocks that one instead of directly dodging it, circling his footwork to give himself a better angle. His left arm comes up to glance along the side of the punch to divert it at the same time that his right comes in to strike the bicep, right above the inside of his elbow.

He's careful to restrain the force of the blow, not wanting to dislocate Masaomi's shoulder. But normally the pain of that is what keeps a person unprepared for defending themselves from the follow-up strike to the jaw-]

[There isn't a defense, but there also isn't any pause. Now so deep into it, he barely even feels that pain, instead just lurching his body and fists forwards to try to land a proper blow on the ninja. Hell, if punch and shove fail, he could also go into a headbutt too...

But no, no defense]

[He's seen this before, in the way Masaomi fought on the draft. It's moronic, is what it is, and he's grateful he had Katara's warning going in that time to prepare for it.

Idiot. It's surprising he isn't dead yet.

The strike to the jaw is just another blow meant to throw off his center. That he's lurching forward like that might make it all the easier to. But while it'll save him from a headbutt - this time - Masaomi will still get in a good hit before that strike connects.

It's a good reminder for something else that makes him a threat in a fight - and why Shikamaru felt the need to provoke him here before someone else could set him off. Masaomi may not be fast enough by ninja standards, but he's stronger than he looks. And once you get him going, he won't stop.

Not wanting to give him another opening in the time it would take to compensate for the hit he landed, Shikamaru will immediately follow by jumping backwards to give himself more distance; prep room for whatever Masaomi throws at him next.]

[That jaw hit did throw him off - really, that's all that prevents him from making another more relentless pursuit of Shikamaru. He glances around where they are for something to pick up - it only takes a moment. Right next to a house, there's a tree over there... he could shatter a window and take a glass shard but that would be too much time. No good rocks on the ground-

All he's got are his fists, then. The search only takes him the time it took to regain his footing, and thus he goes in swinging for the next round- this time aimimg low and with the left fist after a brief feint right. Somehow, after his last efforts, he doesn't expect this to connect, but maybe if he keeps the pressure on Shikamaru will slip up.

As if, but oh well]

[Not with him telegraphing his movements. By this point, it's obvious Masaomi is somewhat ambidextrous, at least when it comes to fighting - experience; what sorts of things would he fight for? - but there are still slight tells that it's his right arm he's dominant with. It's a good feint, but it gives itself away with how slow it is for the dominant side - no intent to hit. He slides away from the left punch.

It should go mostly like this from here on out - Shikamaru dodging his attacks, only blocking them or striking himself when Masaomi gets a little too close for comfort. At least until he tries to pull something else.]

[It does go like this for a half dozen or so more attacks before Masaomi takes a step back, panting a bit - it's not fatigue per say, just rage. He needs to change this. He needs-

...Oh right. He snorts to himself, and then goes in for a new strike - or well two. The first one is yet another punch which he doesn't expect to connect, and for the second- he's pulling the pen out of his hoodie pocket and going to try to stab Shikamaru with it]

[Truth be told, Masaomi likely has better stamina than Shikamaru when it comes to this sort of thing. He just doesn't have as much close combat experience. He can and has gone longer like this, but usually in the combination of some other tactic.

Not that it matters, as soon as Masaomi brings out the pen. Shikamaru was wondering when it'd show up again. Weapons change the name of the game, and as it's out, he doesn't bother blocking the first punch, instead bringing his hands together in the rat handseal.

And this would be why he doesn't have that close combat experience. Most people don't get the chance to get that close to him, thanks to the Kage Mane. Likewise, here and now his shadow doesn't have far to go to capture Masaomi's. He'll take the first hit, but it's worth it since his shadow should connect in time to keep him from getting stabbed.]

[When he freezes, Masaomi's eyes shoot wide, and his face contorts. He should have been expecting this, but all the same-

THIS FACE]

[Shikamaru eyes the pen, then mimes clicking it so that Masaomi's hand does the same. He makes no other move aside from that, leaving them as they are.]

Another question for you - see if you can put a cork on your anger long enough to answer it. [Shikamaru's calm as he looks away from the pen and back to his face, meeting his eyes.] If someone had pissed you off tonight like this before I did, what do you think might've happened?

I- would- leave.

[That's through gritted teeth. His right of movement is being violated, who knows what else is at stake here. The anger is not abated at all, really]

Why?

I have- bigger concerns!

No, what you have is a one-track mind. You can't do anything for Mikado if you can't even take care of yourself.
