So, who here's heard of dinosaurs?

[ He's been reading Michael Crichton lately, sue him. Also, he genuinely wonders how many not-Earth people have, given a lot of animals do seem similar between a lot of worlds, but... dinosaurs though. ]

[ Well, there are normal staples of Masaomi's day: you can see him working the Convenience Store if you want, you can see him shopping for clothes, you can see him in the library (perhaps picking up some books in the aforementioned dinosaurs), or training (in a tank top and shorts) at the Battle Dome. At the end of the day you might also see him going to HQ for the end of the night.

But... something else is at the Dome today fore someone who wants special stuff. Namely, once he's tired and sweaty and Linda has worked herself hard, Masaomi is still using his room, but he's using it to project images of all sorts of dinosaurs based on a picture book that he picked up at the library. To see them in motion, because why wouldn't you try to do something like that? ]

Yep. He went to this world full of talking lions, and when you're traveling the worlds, you kind of want to blend in. Otherwise it'll raise a lot of uncomfortable questions.

[She's been listening through, just like Silver, and -- oh boy, a learning opportunity. Teacher-mode is definitely the best mode.]

Like Silver said, those sound just like extinct Pokémon! There used to be a research lab on Cinnabar Island dedicated to reviving them and learning about them, but it got destroyed when the volcano erupted a couple of years back. [Hmmm...] ...Come to think of it, it's probably been rebuilt by now.

["Three for three"? Should we ask what that's supposed to mean...]

Yes, I think so. There are plenty of things that have still been yet to be discovered about the past, I'm sure, but we do at least have some clue of what the world might have been like before humans came along, and what kind of Pokemon may have been around during that time. There were many Pokemon that used to live in ancient jungles, or even some that once lived in our oceans as well.

Well I hope so, if the crew made it out of there okay. [ A volcano... that's actually a little more worrisome than the revived things, in this moment. But: ] I take it you could tell me all about some of those known extinct species though, couldn't you?

Sure, maybe if you're back in a world full of pokémon?... but what I think a trainer should know before any of that? Is who their pokémon is. Because who says Linda would've wanted to grow up being a fighter? Or want to be serious about it, anyway.

And figuring out all the type match-ups here ever seems pretty dumb and useless to me.

Absurd to you, but talking lions are tame compared to some of the stuff we've dealt with. Like getting trapped inside a giant whale in space.

Sure! In particular, the ones I'm most familiar with are ones like Tirtouga and Carracosta, which were known as the "Prototurtle" Pokemon, and they once dominated the oceans of Unova. Then there's also Archen and it's evolved form Archeops, and they're known as the "First Bird" Pokemon, because it's believed that they are the ancestor of all the birds living in our world.

[Ash probably has data on other fossilized Pokemon from other regions that he's been to, but those are the ones that Cilan knows of from when Ash was traveling in Unova, and they actually got to see those Pokemon in person.]
