~♥FORTY-SIX♥~

[Phase 1: Action]

[ In the backyard behind House 56 there is now a trampoline. Why? A late birthday gift for Ikki now that Masaomi is back from his mission. Fortunately, the MARS people plopped it right there all set up so he only had to make his own down to it (he didn't even go back to his apartment so he's in his mission attire) still to make sure it's there. So. Yeah that's there. And he's considering how to put a bow or something on it - but he doesn't have a bow... ]

[Phase 2: other Action]

[ A week ago, the event ended and Masaomi ollied out. Now he's back from his mission and frankly, he feels a little bit vindicated to have completed the basic training that he failed last time. Linda wanted to rest at the apartment, so he's out solo and wearing this. After he showered and generally felt like he was being cool.

He doesn't feel like working, and while he is in the mood to hit on girls, he's not in the mood to put as much effort into it as he'd like. So mostly, he can be found reading a book in public. Namely, it's a book of poems. He also has a notebook, and seems to be considering something of his own. He should probably make a post or go track down his family or friends or exes from the event... but. Oh well.

In terms of errands, he really only has one, and it's at the Smithy. He's hoping to run into Raven or ... not Sokka, but who knows what'll come to pass]

[Hmmm] Poetry recommendations would certainly be of help to us, though I would be interested to hear about any other books that you think would be good for us to read as well.

[Unless it has a questionable title or something, in which case he might start wondering if it was a bad idea to ask about this.]

Shakespeare...oh, I believe he wrote quite a few comedies and tragedies in addition to his poetry... [But how much do you want to bet that the Shakespeare of the Pokemon world has works titled with Pokemon puns, or had something to do with Pokemon in some regard in comparison to the Shakespeare you know of? I very nearly replied with "Shakespearow" but then I realized that pun was hideous even by my standards.] Which of his works do you like, Masaomi?

"Taming of the Shrew"...hm, I might've heard of that one, though I think it goes by a different name where I'm from. [And it's probably a little less misogynist than the version you're familiar with because...you know, from a children's series and all. Luckily for you, Cilan doesn't know otherwise about the actual version.] I do agree though that choosing from his tragedies may be a little more difficult--he was quite a prolific writer in that genre, wasn't he?

[Titus Andronicus, the ever popular Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet...whatever the equivalents of these were called in the Pokemon universe...]

I see... [he seems to think about it for a moment before he replies] Then perhaps I'll read those ones you've mentioned. I'm curious to see how different they are in comparison to what we had at home. After all, some of our books, like--oh, "Taming of the Sandshrew", that's what the name was!--had Pokemon in a few of them, but I suppose your version doesn't have them, right?

Hm... [At that, Cilan actually seems kind of quiet for a second or two before he replies.] I suppose that gives the books of your world something of a unique flavor in comparison to many of the books you'd find in Unova or other regions.

[That also counts for the books here, too. Not to say that there weren't books that don't have Pokemon in them in his world, but...pretty much 75% of anything in his world in terms of popular culture is "Like 'X', but with Pokemon" by comparison.]
cilantro: (this is quite an exhausting taste)

Oh? [...] That's a little sad, thinking of things that way.

[...But Cilan can't necessarily fault him for it. Recent events (well, recent around the time of this thread) did give him some interesting perspective on what a life without his Pokemon around might have been like, and it certainly was lonely. Thinking about it has him offering a headpat for his Pansage, who has been sitting quietly up until now during their conversation.]

Yes, that's true too. Even when speaking as a Pokemon Connoisseur, we know that having strong ties with others, not just with one's Pokemon, can be important as well. It may be a slow process sometimes, or you may have a marriage that's tainted with misunderstandings now and again, but it really is wonderful to have friends! [And somewhere a choir of angels are singing "gayyyy" in the distance There's a slight pause as he considers something.] I suppose that's something to like about this place: My Pokemon and I were able to meet people with interesting flavors that we otherwise wouldn't have been able to taste before.
cilantro: (this is just a little bit awkward)

[personal profile] cilantro 2013-10-21 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? [um......] That's quite a personal question, isn't it? Why do you ask?
cilantro: (a moment of silence)

[personal profile] cilantro 2013-10-23 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... [He thinks about it for a few seconds before he replies.] There are many things that I love, including my Pokemon and the people that I care about...but no, I can't say that I've ever been in love before, at least in regards to something with a more romantic taste.

[Hell back then he barely had any friends, let alone people he may have been in love with, before he left home to travel with Ash and Iris.]

Oh? [Cilan raises an eyebrow at that, but he's kind of curious.] And why is that, if you don't mind my asking? Is it the kind of flavor that you believe "can only be understood if you've tasted it for yourself"?

[...Or something like that. (And no, he's not expecting Masaomi to tell him about his own personal experiences with love in great detail or anything as an answer to that, but he is curious about his opinion on it.)]

[personal profile] cilantro 2013-10-28 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see. [He nods in understanding, thinking for a moment.] I'll admit that there are some things I do know when it comes to romance, but perhaps that's only from an outsider's perspective. Personal experience regarding romance on the other hand is something I don't have as much data on--I certainly can't consider myself an "A-class Connoisseur" of this particular subject, after all.

[Though that might imply he did have some small personal experience with it, but--err, it's complicated and involves speculation involving people he knows more than about himself. And stuff that happened around Valentines with people who are no longer here...] Still, I can find enjoyment in reading romantic stories, or helping a Cottonee in love find it's treasured partner, or any other things of that nature. I've been satisfied with that taste until now, so... [He concludes a little sheepishly] As for myself, I suppose it's just a matter of time or meeting the right person?

Hm. I suppose I can agree with that; I can't say that I like failure--of course, I doubt anyone actually does, but you're right. Sometimes it's better to try new things than to not try them at all, even if some things might have a more bitter flavor than you were expecting.

[...Granted, he still thinks the way you talk about hitting on girls is ridiculous sometimes, but otherwise everything else you've said so far today was pretty sound...]
