~♥FORTY♥~

[Action]
[Shikamaru and Masaomi have tag-teamed to procure the items. Their quest begins later on, as they allowed for a number of days for preparation and quietly looking around/enjoying the sights before then.
At Shikamaru's suggestion, the first days of the scavenger hunt are spent in observation rather than gathering items. CJ let it drop there was a five day allotment and that they had to keep the items the entire time; waiting just seemed smart.

So they get started on the second to last day. At the Space Opera they have some Tang and trade something that is distinctly not Tang for some ray guns. For the robot, they found something even more effective than an off switch. Who knew flights of stairs would be so deadly?

From there they swipe a jetpack and head to the Shogunate. Neither one of them are manly enough to take on a samurai in pitched combat, so they resort the theft. Or rather Hidan does. While the angry samurai are off looking for him, they'll meet and greet some kappa. Masaomi uses the powers of meta to get the water from their heads.

In Gangland, they dress up some energy drinks as booze in exchange for the tommy guns. While the gangsters there are distracted by that, Linda uses the powers of attraction to get some studebaker keys.

At The Nile, having caught on to the priest's weakness to cute things, they take advantage of small children for the daggers. They face the traps for the treasure with the powers of Rube Goldberg.

The Ice Age is last. Their grand plan to defeat a smilodon?? ...feed it. The cavemen going to war, meanwhile, are happy to exchange their bone spears for the retractable spears Hidan Shikamaru has for them. With little time left until the scavenger hunt ends, the rest is a popcorn fest.

Threads for seeing them pull off any of these ten capers or being involved in them are first-come, first-serve (put the item in the subject head or body of the reply if you want) but if you want to just encounter them in the periods between any of them in any zone or after they complete them all, hanging out somewhere... maybe even run into them while lost in C1 if they're at their apartment, those are unlimited. As this is a joint post, all replies will be from Masaomi and Shikamaru ([personal profile] endgames)]

Whoah, it does?

[She sure didn't notice any symbols that mentioned getting naked when she looked over the book earlier. Let's see, octopus thing, octopus thing...]

Nah, you got it all wrong. The squiggly over there says if you stand there for a second longer then the chamber door is gonna kaslam on us. Probably. You were waaay off.
endgames: (that's interesting)

[He trusts Masaomi enough to know he can move on his own. 8|a]

Lemme just double check. [SLAM. Hello large stone slab blocking the way out.] Nope, I was right all along. There's a lesson for the future for you, that doodle there means 'you're gonna get trapped by a big ol' hunk of rock'.

[Welp, that's a shame. Back to reading the cool looking squigglies on the wall and not really worrying about the whole trapped in thing.]
endgames: (...no)

[Masaomi this is the look you're getting.]

Hmm. Y'know, I think there was somethin' on here about snakes crawling out of the walls when the door kaslams shut.

[Just throwing that out there.]
endgames: (That so?)

[Shikamaru sighs, exasperated, but while all this was happening he's been looking at the writing on the wall too. He's not sure how Pascal's able to read it, but thanks to what she's already pointed out he's been able to jump off of that to decipher several portions himself. Sometimes it's handy to be a super-genius.]

It also says something about a pit if those statues are touched. [He waits to test the accuracy of what Pascal said-- yup, those are snakes all right, and he's backing up now. But this would make his reading accurate too.] Masaomi, let's say we do that.

[Yes, those same statues Pascal said would come alive and attack and shit. Shikamaru's eyeing that one with the outstretched stone wings in particular. 8|a]
castbytheglyph: (We get the funniest looks)

Hwuh, you're doing what now?

[Whoops, probably should have been paying closer attention to what Shikamaru was saying. She turns around in time to notice Masaomi leaning back and the statue twitching a little. First, some stone flakes off. Then, it start to move! Thankfully statues aren't exactly the fastest movers around, so there's plenty of time to move out of the way as the statue flaps its wings and takes a few steps forwards.

Lo and behold, there's an opening behind where the statue was standing!]

Ohooh, I get what you're goin' for!

[Hello, giant statue. Those wings should come in handy later.]

Great. You can help corral the snakes, if you're done reading the rest of that.

[The ground shakes as the statue takes another step, and she makes a low swipe with her hand that's easy to avoid if you're fast, but is more than heavy enough to hurt if it connects.

In the process, when her hands split apart to do that she drops a large jewel that she (like the other statues) was holding. Shikamaru dodges between her legs to catch it, standing on the pit's edge.]

One down...
