[And during the bulk of the day...! Masaomi's forgone most of his training for today other than some things on his wrists. On his left wrist (the one that until very recently was in a cast) has a weighted bracelet on, one kilo. That way, he can work it without switching himself up too much. On his right wrist is still Katara's bracelet. He's also still rocking the Bradstache. BuT more importantly!

...He's here to flirt with girls. He hasn't done it in a while, he's in just the sort of mood where he wants to do it again. So if you're in town and a pretty girl, he's liable to go and flirt with you. If you're a dude, well then you can witness him doing it. React to him, stand there to be reacted to? There's a lot of ways you can roll this]

[Not that he seems worried about it, in spite of words. So that's how this game is played then, huh? Sounds easy enough.]

[Silver spends a second fiddling with the controls, trying to get a feel for the game. Another two go to lowering his gaze and focusing on keeping himself calm.

Then, quietly and casually, he finally speaks up. He looks back up at the game's screen, but it's obvious that his mind is elsewhere.]

I haven't decided. I'm still not sure about what exactly you want from me.

[Gold keeps one eye on the screen, the other trained on his friends. It was a fairly mindless game, all about rhythm, and that was something Gold was good at.]

D'ya have to make it sound so dramatic, Masaomi?

It'snot dramatic, it's just a factual statement. Because my current plan involves defying orders on a mission.

[Took a second to get the hang of this game, but he thinks he has it now. He's not slowing down Gold anymore, at least.]

[When Masaomi confronted about Asuma, he remembers him asking what would step over the line of their agreement, regarding his loyalty to Konoha. He mentioned a mission that could run some risk to his health.]

I didn't think you wanted all four of us on it. That could be troublesome to arrange.

His expression remains stagnant, but his fingers slip at the second statement. It takes Silver a moment to get back into the rhythm needed for the mini game and might have cost him and Masaomi that round.]

Sorry, but you can count me out. [No sense in stringing Masaomi along when he already knows his answer.]

[Gold hits the pause button on the game. What he has next to say requires his full, undivided attention. He turns to face Masaomi now.]

No, I'm not. [Let's level with Gold] I don't have all the necessary skills for what I have in mind. I at least need Shikamaru there with me, and I'd prefer to have at least one of you. If I can't, then that's fine too.

[There's a lot of reasons he could bring up for why this is a bad idea, but the fact is they've yet to hear what Masaomi has in mind.

There is a plan here. That he's thought on it this long and recognizes he can't do it on his own indicates as much. For that he doesn't reject it.

With that in mind, he puts a hand on Gold's shoulder. Calm down, Gold. Better to let Masaomi get out everything stupid he has to say before picking apart why his idea is stupid.]

Tch... [Gold casts his gaze off to the side, and takes a deep breath, before continuing.]

...You really expect us to go along with a plan that you aren't spillin' any details on? I wanted you to recruit Silver because he's my trusted comrade, but you really think he'd agree with an opening like that?

I did, actually. If he had agreed to the operation, I'll talk about the details then. [This is all said with the very flat look, a very straight face.

...He's tired. He's so tired. He had an exhausting heart to heart with Katara earlier that day (as Shikamaru knows) and this month's been awful. Which is probably why he could come up with a plan like this.]

And I need to know if I can count on the two other of you. [...] But you already swore, so I'll count on it.

[He exhales through his nose and turns to look at the screen of the TV. He starts off with a dour, serious expression, but no. He ends up smirking]

Fine, no dramatics. I want to go out on one of those body retrieval missions, and I want to wake those bastards up myself. If it's one of the ones from outside any of these barriers- soldier or civilian - we question them. Even if they don't know "anything," that's more than us. We can at least get a map out of them.

[Less risky than it could've been. Needs a more solid base, but he knows that's what Masaomi needs him for. Needs extra people to keep things running on the side too, which is why he can guess he wants Gold and Silver...

It will be troublesome getting us all on the same mission without coming across as suspicious, you know. It'll take time. But if you're willing to not rush into things, I'm with you.

[Gold's focus drifts back to the TV screen, as he unpauses the mini-game, which is nearing its conclusion now. Better get back into the rhythm fast, Silver.]

That's somethin' you should've run by the whole team before you planned it all out. I don't do missions.

[Shikamaru doesn't miss a beat getting back into the game. Looks like this was a lucky team-up, even if his mind remains on the conversation.

Last time was an exception. He spares a glance at both Gold and Silver, before going back to the screen. For them both, probably.

He has a good idea why now.]

We hate the Mallies and refuse to do their dirty work. We did that last mission to help people. That was it. The Pokédexes were just a bonus.

[-Right, game. Silver... Silver's not doing to hot on getting back into it, but he's at least trying.]

[General or not, he's still Masaomi's "backup". Seeing no need to make a big deal of this, Shikamaru says this plainly, even as he leans forward in his seat a little.]

The only reason you two helped on the last mission was because there were innocent civilians, right? [He looks over at them now.]

The Malnosso are troublesome bastards, I'll give you that, but there's other missions like that. Body Recovery is another type of rescue mission and Crop Security ensures everyone in an enclosure doesn't starve.

[Shikamaru is solely responsible for helping Silver bite down the worst of reactions he could have had to that, not by his capabilities and the fact that he's between him and Masaomi, but by his words.]

We'd get one shot at it. We would have a short amount of time to wake up the person if we even can, hope that they're not too disoriented, and try to get something useful out of them. [Or so he assumes. He's not incredibly knowledgeable on the missions.]

The more of us that are there, the more suspicious we'll seem. Especially Gold and I. We don't do missions. Our actions don't just speak for us. They speak for Luceti as a whole. Death, injury, and being manipulated would affect everyone that cares about us. It's a very high risk low reward situation.

Instead of thinking any of this over or taking opinions, values, and feelings other than your own into consideration, you're lashing out like some bratty, spoiled, self-serving child that can't handle hearing the word no. [...That last part might have been a little too much. ...No. It was much too little.]
