[So Masaomi Kida has a plan today. Namely, he's out to kidnap (for her own good) Katara. There's a few times he could do this. He considers going for her before school... but he's not a morning person and neither is she. After school feels like too little time, so he's opted to pull her aside towards the end of lunch (to hopefully evade Sokka), saying that he has forgotten something (which'll later evolve into "show you something" among other excuses). Well, him and Linda (because he's taken to bringing the pichu along to school, lately) And from there... the adventure begins.

Hours of inane things ensue, not to mention a handful of not-quite arguments about how late it is getting. Feel free to run into them more or less anywhere: item shop, Azzip pizza, various floors of various community buildings,Rec Center, south side of town, north side of town, generally more or less anywhere. Chances are you won't even need to be the first to speak, because you run a good chance of running into them talking! This'll be any time between lunch break at school and oh, early evening

So back home he tended to be in the same boat, details. But after a cautionary glance at Buffy, he looked back to Katara.

"Sooo, how about it?"

Blink.

"How about what?"

What just happened here?

Do allow the Slayer to translate: "He's asking you on a fresh, handmade burrito date. My advice? Say no. He did so sneakily and vaguely in public. In front of a stranger. Well -- stranger to him. All in all? I'd give it a C-minus in terms of wooing.

And believe me, I am -- unfortunately -- now an expert in being clumsily wooed."

He turned, and there entered light glare at Buffy.

"Lady, you're killing me."

Buffy, that was incredibly helpful and can she keep you in her pocket, please.

"Oh," was said in Buffy's direction, with not the slightest hint of a blush or surprise, just the acknowledgment of some clarification. And then she turned to Masaomi with the same neutral expression that... grew a little more deadpan.

"No."

Hmph. Honestly, he should know better than to try that.

Of course she was killing you, Masaomi. It had taken Jack Sparrow just about a year to get so much as a hug out of the Slayer -- and his more spirited (and less dark) wooing moments were characterized by a similar tricksy behaviour. It might be why she also has a backwards feeling of sympathy for the gallant wannabe-knight.

"You can't trick a girl into a date, bucko. Then it's not really a date at all. More like fraud. Emotional fraud."

"If it was fraud then my name's Freud Ponzi." He said this automatically, defensively, and with a sigh.

So what if it was a bit deceptive, Katara would not say yes if he was straightforward and if he just didn't call it a date it might work out?

Still with her arms crossed, Katara looked over to Masaomi curiously. "Your name is who?"

"Freud Ponzi," she repeated. Wrinkling her nose. Oh. She would have a few cautionary anecdotes to share with the waterbender. Eventually.

"What she said." And he threw a thumb in the direction of Buffy.

...Which actually was taken as an ill sign by Linda and she sparked up her cheeks again, all to be ready to deliver a thundershock. Masaomi, wide eyed as soon as he heard the now familiar electrical sparking, went to crouch down and cup his hands on either side of Linda's face.


...To be electrocuted by a not fully charged electric rat. Ouch

Immediately distracted from the conversation, Katara crouched down beside the pair. "There have to be other ways of getting her to stop."

Seriously, this is so bad for your chi system, you have no idea.

She streams some water out from her waterskin and waits until he's done being electrocuted to place it on his forehead and smooth it out.

"Y-yeah. Shock therapy isn't supposed to be recreational."

"W-working on it..."

Actually, she'd gotten very good with hand signals thus far. He just needed to, well, be more careful with their execution. And perhaps, he'd considered, he ought to get some rubber gloves

Frowning, Katara placed her hand on his forehead, soothing down his chi and... damnit, this really isn't good for him at all. The damage is relatively minimal, and she can fix it easily, but...

"Maybe she needs some cues on when a fight starts."

It's not going to break out every moment!

And her eyes were wide with concern and fixed on his face.

Buffy was more interested in Katara. Blame her recent desire to have the waterbender on her side.

"What's that you're doing to him...?"

His hands finally move off of Linda, who looked confused and maybe a little put out to be admonished like that. He gave her a stern look which screamed he would talk to her more later before he sighed. Katara's fixing things would make him feel better soon anyway.

"Linda has some very powerful electric attacks," Katara's voice was somewhat detached, it would be hard to tell if she was being complimentary or clinical. "And Masaomi just took the full brunt of at least a... partially charged one."

And a part of her was subconsciously impressed with the way he put himself in harms way to take care of what was his responsibility.

"So I'm healing the damage it did to his chi system and restoring the natural balance in his body."

The healing with her waterbending was uniquely suited to fire and electrical damage. Buffy may have noticed how the water on her hand and on Masaomi's forehead is glowing.

"His chi system?"

Buffy stepped closer. Strategy, now. Teasing and matters of the heart left well behind.

"Hey, one more thing."

Not facing Buffy, he lifted up his palms. Linda might not have been fully charged, but the little circles on her cheeks were basically electrical ports. He had what was no doubt the beginning of electrical burns there.

Also, he could not help but notice she didn't really ask permission to heal him. Again.

It made him smile, warmly. Just for her.

Katara winced at the sight of his hands, not really noticing his smile or the fact that she had, once again, healed him without permission. There were very few people in the world she would act so - not quite possessively, but with the instinctual knowledge that they wouldn't say no, or with the amount of concern that overrides the immediate necessity of getting permission.

"Oh, I didn't even think--"

She will be right with you, Buffy. It's not that Katara is ignoring the question, it's that she had explained this so many times before it doesn't really take priority right now. She streamed up some more water from her waterskin to place both water-coated hands lightly on top of his. This will take maybe thirty seconds to fix.

She hates burns.

Amazing. Buffy didn't mind the wait; she simply watched -- not quite managing to hit the right level of sympathy for those burns. She interpreted pain differently from others. And it was hard to be concerned when Katara had things so readily and easily under control.

Oh... that felt better. Much better. He waited for Katara to finish her thing and give him a seal of approval, but once she did he pulled them back, flexed his fingers, and then go to pet Linda. See, Linda? You did not do bad, you just... ought to control your impulse a bit.

Katara sighed a little in relief as he was evidently all better and turned back to Buffy. She'd told them to be careful. She'd told them that she wouldn't always be there to help. It was really far better for everyone concerned if she didn't deal with Linda and Masaomi right now.

"His chi system - chi is... I've heard some people here describe it like chakra, or... life force. Do you have anything like that in your world?"
