[Okay, so after flouncing the house yesterday and taking up residence in a random apartment in the middle of the night, taking only his journal and the clothes on his back, Masaomi is now left with a few things to do today on the 8th, now that he rested all of the seventh. He is of course ditching school if there is any, but he will be heading to three different places:

1) The Smithy, to see if he can't find or request the construction of a collapsible baton, like the ones he used in the draft
2) The clothing shop, because he left all his hoodies/other outfits at home. In fact, he's still wearing the ninja vest he wore in the draft today, albeit mercifully with a washed pair of pants and a washed T-shirt.
3) looking for people

He is specifically looking for his closest non-Mikado friends, those who need to be protected, or those he respects/figures can do something (slatebreaker, seiriald, markofthebrave, boomchuka, wise_maiden, liketofu, heavenslament, poppetry, falenandawn, mischiefbreeder, its_troublesome, acowardlyoak, anddeathsdoctor) though will not object if other people run into him. He is however, in the darkest of all moods right now, and still is a little weak, despite a day or rest. He'll be all over town looking for these people (mostly because he isn't entirely sure where all of them live) and such.

-FOR THE RECORD IF YOU ARE ON THAT LIST AND DON'T HAVE TIME/ENERGY FOR A THREAD, FEEL FREE TO ASSUME HE GAVE THEM A HEADS-UP. EDIT: Also heads up if they can't be found for some reason or another. Just give me a ring somehow to know you saw. Also, like I said, anyone is free to tag whenever. Have at.

[He gives no clue to what exactly he is thinking on the matter. In fact, he sighs and smiles a moment later, seemingly accepting the answer and letting the subject drop - for now.

There are some things that aren't his business; some things that people have to sort out on their own, or within their own circle of people they trust. Like his old classmates, and the threat Sasuke poses to Konoha.

He hasn't forgotten that Masaomi didn't pester him further on that, and gets the impression that this is a situation where he should do the same. Until he sees evidence to the contrary, at least.

He'll be keeping an ear out for it.]

In that case, come with me. [He picks himself up off the couch, but stops before heading for the door.] Or did you have anything else you needed to say?

Ah, no. That's all.

[He pushes off the wall and follows in behind him with a little shrug. He really should get some rest anyway, honestly]

[He nods.] Cool. Come on, then.

[Shikamaru turns and moves again, out the door and shuffling his bare feet quietly across the hallway to the kitchen.]

[Oh, there's more to do? Masaomi blinks but follows suit anyway, curious]

[He taps a stool as he walks past it, to the refrigerator.]

Have a seat. You have time to stick around for a few minutes, don't you?

[It's phrased as a suggestion, but it isn't quite.]

[He shrugs. Yes, probably. He should check himself in soon because he's nearing the end of his quest with Shikamaru, but he sits anyway]

Good.

[Opening the freezer door. What do we have in here.... lot of junk. Eh. He picks out two cartons of ice cream - one chocolate and one vanilla - and sets them on the table.]

Take your pick. The sooner I get rid of them, the better.

Eeeeh... this is quite a date, Shikamaru-kun.

[Lightly. But that said, he points at the chocolate. Sure, let's do it.]

[He nudges the carton across the table, then reaches into a drawer and tosses him a spoon.]

Just eat the ice cream. [He sits down himself, and opens the vanilla carton.]

You're the first person I've seen since everyone got back from the draft. [Not everyone's spoken up over the journals yet... Masaomi included. Truth be told, Shikamaru was glad to see him, even if it was unexpected.] There's been enough serious things like that to worry about. Can't hurt doing something less troublesome.

[He takes the carton and catches the spoon deftly, going at his own pretty slowly. But... he frowns. That's not true, isn't it? Katara saw him... ah, but maybe he's discounting that. He shrugs and just takes a bite, nodding]

Eh, I can agree with that much.

Heh. That, and my only other choice for company until Chouji gets back would be Temari.

[Yup - Katara, and people like Law and Temari, aren't being counted here, though they're the only three that could be. Saying what he did, he meant people fresh back from the draft.]

Is that to say Temari-chan isn't the best company? That sounds like a dangerous statement...

There's no such thing as a safe statement when it comes to that woman. [He takes a bite of his own ice cream, turning that over in his head before deciding to make an amendment to it.] But she can be all right to hang out with sometimes.

[With a spoon pointed lop-sided at him before going back to the carton]

Aa. Any of those people ones back from the draft? [Another bite of ice cream.] I've been wondering how people have been holding up since then. There's not much to go off of from the journals.
