[Okay, so after flouncing the house yesterday and taking up residence in a random apartment in the middle of the night, taking only his journal and the clothes on his back, Masaomi is now left with a few things to do today on the 8th, now that he rested all of the seventh. He is of course ditching school if there is any, but he will be heading to three different places:

1) The Smithy, to see if he can't find or request the construction of a collapsible baton, like the ones he used in the draft
2) The clothing shop, because he left all his hoodies/other outfits at home. In fact, he's still wearing the ninja vest he wore in the draft today, albeit mercifully with a washed pair of pants and a washed T-shirt.
3) looking for people

He is specifically looking for his closest non-Mikado friends, those who need to be protected, or those he respects/figures can do something (slatebreaker, seiriald, markofthebrave, boomchuka, wise_maiden, liketofu, heavenslament, poppetry, falenandawn, mischiefbreeder, its_troublesome, acowardlyoak, anddeathsdoctor) though will not object if other people run into him. He is however, in the darkest of all moods right now, and still is a little weak, despite a day or rest. He'll be all over town looking for these people (mostly because he isn't entirely sure where all of them live) and such.

-FOR THE RECORD IF YOU ARE ON THAT LIST AND DON'T HAVE TIME/ENERGY FOR A THREAD, FEEL FREE TO ASSUME HE GAVE THEM A HEADS-UP. EDIT: Also heads up if they can't be found for some reason or another. Just give me a ring somehow to know you saw. Also, like I said, anyone is free to tag whenever. Have at.

He was the orphanage's caretaker in that experiment, right?

[There's a faint emphasis on the word 'that,' as if that's all it needs to distinguish 'that experiment' from any other.]

[There's a sort of... nostalgic look that briefly crosses Masaomi's face before he nods. Yes]

Are you going to talk to him about this too?

[Because in Katara's mind - as long as it's an enemy they can reach, it's an enemy they can do something about.]

T-talk to Shizuo Heiwajima-san?! Are you nuts?!

[There is a scandalized gasp here. Honestly, in his mind that's a death sentence]

[Katara rolls her eyes lightly.] It's not like you didn't before.

[She has clear memories of you bribing him with milk in that self-same week, man.]

But that was then and this is real- seriously, if I say the wrong thing with him I could die!

I don't remember him being that bad! [Of course, if she connected him with the guy who randomly threw the fountain around the plaza when he first came to Luceti, she might understand Masaomi's caution.]

[He's so taken aback by that statement his very real but slightly flamboyant terror fades into a look of honest confusion]

If you want to talk to him about Izaya, but you don't want to say the wrong thing, I could go with you. Sometimes it helps if there's someone else there.

[To explain, to cover for people if necessary, or to provide giant ice shields while the two of them run like hell is after them. You know, whatever.]

[...if he keeps that up, she'll go looking for him herself. She sets down the teacup back on its saucer with a light clink.]

I can take care of myself, Masaomi. Besides, he's just a person, right? It's not like you have to talk to him, but he's from your world and he's enemies with the same guy you're enemies with... it just seems like a good idea to me.

Shizuo-san... I don't think anyone would ever call him just a person, Katara...

[Weakly. She's really not getting this, is she?]

[Maybe being best friends with the Avatar has warped her perception a bit. But. Yeah, Katara's not getting this at all. And she frowns a little.]

He's strong. So strong it's scary... it's unmatched. Even Celty-san said he was stronger.

[...yeah, she doesn't see the point. This is the girl who buddies up with Wonder Woman and walks up to raging Avatars without flinching.]

Just because someone's strong doesn't mean that they're going to hurt you just because they can.

But when someone gets strong enough, they can hurt people without trying.

That's true. [She knows that very well. But she smiles a little.] But that just means that you have to let them know what's going on before something bad happens.

[She shrugs.] Just think about it.

Ah. [The idea of her being with him is oddly comforting, but he was also truthful that he doesn't want to put her in danger... he frowns but nods all the same]

I'll consider it, yeah.

[She nods. Good.]

What does Izaya look like? [Small pause.] And is it okay if I tell the others?

[The members of her house, she means. And okay or not, she probably will anyway, but for some reason that felt right to ask.]

He's a little taller than me and a little thinner too... ah, he's got dark hair and brown eyes which can almost look red and tends to wear this fluffy coat. [....] If you know who he is, you'll feel him and recognize him that way. He might sound and look nice... but he feels all wrong once you know.

[He forgets to answer that second part, so caught up is he in the description]

[She takes that as a 'yes,' anyway.

[And she goes for a reassuring smile.]

Mm~ if you ask me, it would be impossible to banish Katara from my head for that long, but as long as you get it.

[He laughs here, a forced one before going back to the tea]

[She shakes her head, her smile going wry.
