[Action]
[Okay, so after flouncing the house yesterday and taking up residence in a random apartment in the middle of the night, taking only his journal and the clothes on his back, Masaomi is now left with a few things to do today on the 8th, now that he rested all of the seventh. He is of course ditching school if there is any, but he will be heading to three different places:
1) The Smithy, to see if he can't find or request the construction of a collapsible baton, like the ones he used in the draft
2) The clothing shop, because he left all his hoodies/other outfits at home. In fact, he's still wearing the ninja vest he wore in the draft today, albeit mercifully with a washed pair of pants and a washed T-shirt.
3) looking for people
He is specifically looking for his closest non-Mikado friends, those who need to be protected, or those he respects/figures can do something (
slatebreaker,
seiriald,
markofthebrave,
boomchuka,
wise_maiden,
liketofu,
heavenslament,
poppetry,
falenandawn,
mischiefbreeder,
its_troublesome,
acowardlyoak, and
deathsdoctor) though will not object if other people run into him. He is however, in the darkest of all moods right now, and still is a little weak, despite a day or rest. He'll be all over town looking for these people (mostly because he isn't entirely sure where all of them live) and such.
-FOR THE RECORD IF YOU ARE ON THAT LIST AND DON'T HAVE TIME/ENERGY FOR A THREAD, FEEL FREE TO ASSUME HE GAVE THEM A HEADS-UP. EDIT: Also heads up if they can't be found for some reason or another. Just give me a ring somehow to know you saw. Also, like I said, anyone is free to tag whenever. Have at.
EDIT2: for context of why he booked it from the house see this thread (heavy spoilers for later DRRR novels)]

[He didn't think of it before now but... Shizuo does hate Izaya, right? He wants him dead. Processing this new information, he goes off the wall he was leaning on and blinks. Does that make Shizup helpful or... even more dangerous? Both, possibly]

You spoken to Mister Shikamaru yet?
[You probably have to see him about that flak jacket, anyway, right?]
no subject
no subject
Unless you know where he lives, the best way to get a hold of him is through journal.
1/2
[That comes out a little too quickly, a little too sharply, and his eyes go wide. No. No. He can't you the journal - Izaya would see it and that would defeat the point. No filter he could make would be enough, the journals aren't safe anymore - they can't be safe anymore]
no subject
I'll find him later.
no subject
Onto other business then.]
I'll let him know you're looking.
Now. Are you feeling well? [Eyeing critically.] You've been looking more and more worn the more I talk with you.
no subject
[And it's only been ... well less than two whole days. He rested day one, but. That's part of why he looked for Law, admittedly]
no subject
[Sigh.]
Come on. There's a whole host of nastiness brought back from the field this time around. Let's see if you're coming down with something.
no subject
no subject
Not that it's obvious yet. But it's a suspicion. Just as possible anemia due to blood loss is a suspicion. Big old rips in flak jackets don't happen by themselves you know.
And yes, we're going to the medical center (where you can check in on Selphie later, if you haven't already done so). It's much busier up here than normal, but that's standard after a draft. And there will be direction to one of the beds up in the 'Emergency Room' section, and a privacy curtain pulled for well privacy. No need for other people in here to stare.]
So, Mister Masaomi, I'm going to ask you a few questions about what happened out on the draft in regards to wounds and medical treatment, if that's all right with you?
[Getting a chart, and a pen, a themometer, and a cart with phlebotomy supplies. He hopes it isn't malaria... too many people are bringing that back and that can be a bitch to treat and monitor at times.]
no subject
Ah, yeah... I can tell you what I remember.
[There are... one or two instances he thinks he blacked out, so he doesn't legitimately know what happened]
no subject
and handwaveable if you wantquestions. Type of wounds, were the wounds contamination with soil and water, blood loss, how were they treated (if the old fashioned way, he'll have to check for infection/ magic - he'll be prescribing preventative wide spectrum antibiotics at the very least), did you notice any insect bites, did you drink any of the water/ eat any local vegetation or animals...]Alright. During the course of the draft, what sort of wounds did you pick up and when?
no subject
and we can wave some of them later if it comes to that] a sharp blow on my shoulder on the third day, I think my shoulder was dislocated on the second......And on the later part of the third day I was impaled.
[And he itches the spot chest where the jacket is ripped as he says that last one]
The fourth day was chaotic, but I wasn't directly in the action for much of it... ah, I'm sure I got a few more cuts and bruises.
no subject
Check on blood loss. Maybe still anemic.
The pen starts writing again.]
And how were those treated? Just by healing magic, or were the wounds cleaned out and given other attention?
no subject
[...] Aside from that, I also went to the med-clinic there every night to get looked over after the day's events. The dislocated shoulder I self-treated...
[And then he pauses and hangs his head, trying to remember but-] ...I'm not sure what Raine-sensei did when I was impaled. I woke up with it doing better.
no subject
Check dislocated shoulder to see it's properly popped back in and working.
Speak with Raine about treatment of that wound. Later.]
I see. I think I'll follow up on that shoulder, just as a precaution. [We're just going to put down that chart and pick up that thermometer to disinfect it. Thankfully it is not the stick in your mouth kind.] And did you suffer any insect bites, or have to drink any of the local water or eat anything from the brush?
no subject
[He shrugs here. Wow, this is sort of... relaxing, in spite of everything]
no subject
[You could have possibly picked up Dengue or Yellow fever instead of that... but... he doesn't think so in this case. Malaria is the flavour de jour after the draft, and symptoms can take as long as fourteen days to show up.
But he hopes you're clean. It's such a bitch to monitor and treat.]
no subject
[He says this deftly. Isn't that a bad- yes it's a very bad one, but had he been vaccinated? The pre-draft is a blur and he never kept track of shots at home. Oh well. He nods either way]
no subject
(If you're sick as a dog, and only feeling like you want to die, then it's likely the vivax strain. That's the most common.)
And even then, vaccines require days to take proper effect. The immune system has to be triggered, levels of antibodies have to build, the disease has to be imprinted into molecular memory. They are never insta cures. The people vaccinated before the draft were going in with scant protection at best; the hope that the rising levels of antibodies within their bloodstream would lessen the severity of the illness should they catch something.]
It's going to require me taking some blood later.
[Reason one of why checking for malaria (and monitoring treatment) is such a bitch: he'll have to search through the blood film on an entire slide on high power under the microscope, manually count how many parasites there are per thousand cells, and then calculate the ratio of parasite to red blood cells present. Reason two: he has to keep doing this repeatedly until the patient is clean, and then after that, he still has to do it occassionally, because the damn parasite has a tendancy to hide in the liver and resurge unless the cocktail of medications manages to wipe it out in the blood and tissues.] But for now, if you'll open wide?
[He's got to take your temperature with that thremometer he's got.]
no subject

...
...
...
No, Masaomi. He's not going to bleed you dry. >> It'll be just a tube.]
