[Shikamaru and Masaomi have tag-teamed to procure the items. Their quest begins later on, as they allowed for a number of days for preparation and quietly looking around/enjoying the sights before then.

At Shikamaru's suggestion, the first days of the scavenger hunt are spent in observation rather than gathering items. CJ let it drop there was a five day allotment and that they had to keep the items the entire time; waiting just seemed smart.

So they get started on the second to last day. At the Space Opera they have some Tang and trade something that is distinctly not Tang for some ray guns. For the robot, they found something even more effective than an off switch. Who knew flights of stairs would be so deadly?

From there they swipe a jetpack and head to the Shogunate. Neither one of them are manly enough to take on a samurai in pitched combat, so they resort the theft. Or rather Hidan does. While the angry samurai are off looking for him, they'll meet and greet some kappa. Masaomi uses the powers of meta to get the water from their heads.

In Gangland, they dress up some energy drinks as booze in exchange for the tommy guns. While the gangsters there are distracted by that, Linda uses the powers of attraction to get some studebaker keys.

At The Nile, having caught on to the priest's weakness to cute things, they take advantage of small children for the daggers. They face the traps for the treasure with the powers of Rube Goldberg.

The Ice Age is last. Their grand plan to defeat a smilodon?? ...feed it. The cavemen going to war, meanwhile, are happy to exchange their bone spears for the retractable spears Hidan Shikamaru has for them. With little time left until the scavenger hunt ends, the rest is a popcorn fest.

Threads for seeing them pull off any of these ten capers or being involved in them are first-come, first-serve (put the item in the subject head or body of the reply if you want) but if you want to just encounter them in the periods between any of them in any zone or after they complete them all, hanging out somewhere... maybe even run into them while lost in C1 if they're at their apartment, those are unlimited. As this is a joint post, all replies will be from Masaomi and Shikamaru (endgames)]

Not necessary. [His tone is unusually harsh.] He knows what he's doing. If that's really a precaution, it's retarded.

[Either way, both of its implications piss him off. Shikamaru turns to walk down the path without another word - he thinks he heard a kappa farting this way and some girls shrieking.]

[He shrugs now, and follows along with Shikamaru. He's just rolling his eyes, honestly.]

I'd be more concerned about that if I'd planned on entering any popularity contests here.

[Don't mind him following along, more out of curiosity than because he needs their help getting the water-- he can manage that part on their own. He just wants to see if THEY can.]

[The path slopes downwards, and yup. Looks like theirs some kappa down there near the river. Shikamaru stops at a distance, not giving a shit who tags along because he just wants to get this done, and takes a small container from a pouch sewn into his clothes. Here you go, Masaomi.]

What we need's down the pit? [He tilts his head to the side. And with that head tilt, he shuffles a bit to look over at the statues. Okay... so. he goes to lean up against one of the wings]

[Masaomi also hangs back, but he's juggling Linda's pokeball in one hand, absently. Just because]

Jeeez, we should have used a living animal. They must not be scavengers.

[He mutters this, his teeth chattering a bit. This is too cold]

A living animal won't work.

[Shikamaru rests his chin against his knees as he says this, hands tucked under his arms.]

[Masaomi takes it and then goes up to the kappa is being survey and generally difficult and surly. Masaomi goes up to the person with a bag in his hand and then offers a token greeting, asking him how the weather is. The Kappa actually answers, and so begins a token Japanese conversation, circular in nature and largely about nothing]

[Ah, so he's going the polite route rather than the pulling its arm off or wrestling with it route. Probably more productive, anyway.

Gai will just stand and watch for now, curious to see how this goes.]

[Shikamaru watches with his hands in his pockets. That's not the kind of reaction he was expecting from the kappa, but it's interesting. What a surprising personality. Maybe it'd be like so...]

Yeah, yeah, I get the plan. Even so.

Just keep an eye out. A smaller one is apt to be a scavenger. With that smell, it won't be much longer. I have faith your ass won't freeze off before that approaching time.

[A familiar voice might be heard from somewhere far down the end of the corridor.] Fantastic! These ancient writings are a clue that binds all of the historical information together!

[Oh maybe that's why. It doesn't sound like anyone else is here and ignoring life-threatening shit, anyways. Shikamaru sighs, and takes a few steps forward.]

Talk to her and make sure she doesn't set off anything else?

[And he can handle the axes. He times a jump past one in its backswing to stand on the platform in the middle of the pit, in the thin space between the two axes.]

[ Well, she'll go by herself, then. Soren's taking his cue from Shikamaru and Masaomi, making himself scarce. Ikki will just skip up to the priest casually, since beyond "be herself" she wasn't given much in the way of instructions. ]

Hiya! I'm Ikki! What's your name? [ The priest probably did not expect the chipper greeting, and he might also not be expecting the torrent of words just waiting to be unleashed. ]

I'm more concerned about my gibblets. And what about you, do ninja have antifreeze for blood or something?

[This conversation lasts... frankly, unreasonably long. First about the weather, then about how there's this guy named Hidan causing problems, and the kappa says he hasn't heard of him, but like to meet him! And then, finally, Masaomi goes to say goodbye. When he does, he bows, lightly but relatively deep. The kappa, for his part, returns the gesture...!

...And pouts his water into the pouch Masaomi put under his head when he bowed.

Masaomi cackles then as he leaps back from the shocked and more than a little delirious looking kappa]

Oh come on, why me?! [And he whines a little, but then goes to run through the scorpions (whhhhhy) to try to close in on ... whoever's voice that was. It sounds sort of familiar. Sob]

[endgames]

As if. The Land of Fire never gets snow, much less anything like this. That's why I complain about the cold so much...

[Usually. Shikamaru adjusts the scarf he threw on earlier. He's apathetic at the moment.]

My old man told me the Land of Iron is snowy like this almost year-round, though. Maybe samurai fare better.

[Shikamaru smiles a not-quite-smile and turns his attention back to the meat on the ice.]
