This post here is for personal conversations which should happen but one or both of us doesn't want to put up a new post/log and thus we will just thread it out here. This can be used to thread with Masaomi anytime and anywhere. This can either be in person (with action), or via the journal's call feature (voice and/or written).

She'll get it someday. For someone from such a hot as hell place, it takes her a long time to warm up to people.

She turns and instantly moves to hug him.]

Welcome back.

[And he hugs he back, laughing a bit. She'll squirm out if she wants out and he'll accept the cue]

I'm back.

[Nope. Staying right here, actually. Needing the physical reassurance that you're okay. Possibly shaking a very little bit, too.]

I was scared.

[Oh, well then. When he doesn't pull back he is - once again - mildly surprised. But instead of falling apart on her like last time, he instead squeezes her a little tighter and starts to run his hand on her back in what he hopes is a comforting gesture. He can't help it. He's glad to see her too

He whispers the next part-]

Honestly, so was I.

[Perhaps it's his tired brain forcing that out. Words of assurance seem like they wouldn't do the horror of what he'd fought the last week justice]

Okay liiiisten up, Shikamaru! To pull off a kiss like that, you need three major things!

[He points at him. Point, point!]

One, you need dramatic enemies on all sides.
Second, you need to give a kiss which totally says "shut up woman."
Third, it needs to still be romantic despite that.

[It takes her a moment to pull away. In that moment, she holds on to him more tightly, eyes shut, allowing the rhythm of his breathing to convince her that he was real and alive and okay.

And then she shifts her weight back and starts to pull away.]

Yes, all right?

[Because she could have lost him to this. Because he could have been so hurt. Because she is tired of having her heart ripped up and she doesn't know what's right anymore so she could at least give him a chance. She could give him that much trust.]

[...one corner of his mouth twitches, then upturns, and it stays like that.

He feels so fucking cool right now.]

[He's smiling when he pulls away from her, though he does still brush on her for a moment. For a moment, at the first "Yes," he's actually uncomprehending - it just only shows in his eyes. What...?

But then it clicks. To his credit, he doesn't look amazed or surprised or shocked. Rather, his eyes just grow a twinkle in them and his smile, if anything, gets broader

But he's also not sure what to say. Should he- no maybe- but-?

Instead, he just leans down to kiss her on the forehead.]

[Say whaaaaaat?]

[SAY NOTHING, because he's not the type to brag.

But he knows he fulfilled at least two of those. And remembering how he held her, and how she pulled him closer, how for a moment she wasn't all edges but gentle...

He laughs, sincerely happy for at least this moment. He'll never know without asking her, but he likes to think he fulfilled that third requirement too.

He remembers Masaomi is still there after a moment though, and gets his head out of the clouds.]

Maa, maa. You should know better than anyone in this room, shouldn't you?

It's not about looking cool.

[She closes her eyes when he kisses her and takes a deep breath. Katara opens her eyes again when he pulls away.]

Just so we're clear, this isn't us dating. It's one date. And not this week. But you can pick the time after that, just give me at least the day before to let me know. Okay?

Of course, of course! I shan't be so presumptuous!

[After the events of the thirtieth - after Korras Blake - the final bit of his morale has dropped up. At the tail end of the draft he worked on autopilot, guarding the hospital to see that cure finished and everyone saved. But he had no emotional investment in it. No spark. And now, all at once, he has his spark back and his heart is soaring]

And it's okay. More than, it's great. I'm glad.

No! It is completely about looking cool! [In fact, he stands, waving his arms to confirm the point]

[More than love? Something that could happen someday?

He doesn't think he's ready to admit that one yet though, least of all to anyone else when he can't figure it out himself.]

I never cared for that kind of thinking. I mean, if it works out like that it works out, and I don't mind it...

[She took a deep breath and gave him a small smile.]

Great. [Snickering a bit, even. He rocks back and looks around] Maaah, I sort of thought this wouldn't happen underwater, but you never know how things go in Luceti.
